FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We often see people who are hesitant to try Krav Maga either because they think they will leave with a black eye or feel they are not in shape enough to do Krav Maga. Below is a list of questions we’ve received. If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to e-mail or call us.
I don’t want to get hurt in class.
We train safe. We are not an MMA type gym. There are no egos. Everyone training is here for one purpose; we want to learn tools to keep us safe.
I don’t feel like I’m in good enough shape.
It’s not about fitness. Krav Maga is about you learning techniques to keep you safe. Fitness is an added bonus in training Krav Maga, but you don’t have to be a Navy Seal to train. The most important aspect of Krav Maga is for you to be safe.
I can’t train because I have an injury.
Yes, we all get old and the body aches. Sometimes we tweak a knee or a shoulder. Bad guys don’t care. Ask yourself how you would defend yourself with the same injury in the street. Our instructors ask every class if there is an injury we need to be aware of and will adjust a technique to whatever injury you may have.
I don’t need Krav Maga because I carry a gun.
That’s great. Have you trained with your firearm in a stress environment? What happens if you forget your firearm? What if the firearm has a malfunction? We would rather you train as a weapon, than rely on a weapon.
I’ve had a bad experience.
Many of our students, including instructors, have had a bad experience where we had a difficult time trying to defend ourselves. We understand all too well that it’s difficult to trust, much less be in a class that recreates the situation that brings back that moment. Let our instructors know about the situation and we will take precautions and work with you both mentally and physically to get through the technique successfully.
