How do you earn stripes in Taekwondo?

At Akula Taekwondo, stripes are earned and taped around the end of the belt when the following skills are mastered.

  1. Black Stripe, Mat presence — All Belts.
  2. Brown Stripe, Fundamentals — All Belts.
  3. Orange Stripe, Forms — All Belts.
  4. Yellow Stripe, Strikes — All Belts.
  5. Green Stripe, One-Steps — All Belts.

Most often a student will receive their four stripes from our head instructor during classes, in house seminars or in house competitions.
